Isn't it nice to make things? I always feel such a sense of accomplishment when I make a physical object I can hold and turn over with my hands. I'm hoping I'll encourage myself to do it more often by keeping a webpage record of my accomplishments.

Honestly, I made this page so I could show off this crab bag. It's just a beanbag crab made out of an old bedsheet, but it made me so incredibly happy.
The pattern for this crab bag is from
Crab Bags & Other Bean Beings (direct PDF link), which is an excellent book that you should read, even if you have no plans to make any bean beings. close
This crab bag is full of mung beans. Its claws are stuffed enough for it to grip small objects like pens. It is a powerful and talented crab bag that can do anything it sets its mind to.
Its stripes line up perfectly at the seams! I didn't even plan for that. What an auspicious happening. What a wonderful crab.

Hotkoin drew this literal crab bag when I shared the first one in Discord and I had to try making it.
I think it turned out surprisingly well! I did have to resew the eyes and claws a few times to figure out the best configuration though.
It's holding onto my small fabric scraps :)

I tried to make one of
Choly Knight's free projects and quickly found out that I'm extremely bad at eyeballing seam allowances. I couldn't get a picture that shows it very well, but the feet are all misaligned... at least it's cute! close

Freehanded this one without a pattern and it came out surprisingly alright. I feel like I understand ladder & whip stitch a lot better now. Also, very fun to fling to the ground as violently as you can.
